The newly risen sun extinguishes earth’s shadows, nurtures me with warm gaze, and flings me head first into the light to fall or fly. I’m descending in the atmosphere, truth in the palm of my hand. When my body hits the earth, I see bruised fists, stiff fingers to uncurl for the reveal, But fleeting faster than my fall, And swept away with a bold breeze, I’m left empty-handed and alone, missing the merciful sunrise that extinguishes shadow with light.
