He tried to explain it all to me with a handful of granola bars. The billionaires, he said, borrow these bars and then sell them, with the hope of buying them back at a lower price to turn a profit, but they were outfoxed, tricked by these Reddit kids. This reminds me of Heathcliff, I said, who disappeared for years, amassed a great fortune then took Wuthering Heights from drunken, abusive Hindley. Heathcliff was like a Reddit kid, don’t you think? Yeah, something like that, he said, but we still don’t know what’s going to happen. Hindley, to put it in a way you’ll understand, just might perform the ultimate resurrection, and take it all back. The granola bars were then opened and eaten in silence, a scent of maple between us.
